QRAY checks location at the exact moment of a fixed QR or one-tap punch. You draw a geofence around each workplace or job site, and when an employee clocks in, the app checks whether they are inside that boundary. Outside it, a fixed QR scan is rejected and a one-tap punch is flagged or, if you choose, blocked. For standard time tracking, location is only read at clock-in and clock-out. Continuous tracking only runs if your company turns on the optional Live Location module with employees' consent, and then only during working hours.
How GPS Verification Works
Each location gets a geofence — a radius you define on a map. When an employee scans a fixed QR code or taps to clock in, the QRAY app reads their GPS position once and checks it against that boundary. Inside the fence, the punch goes through. Outside it, a fixed QR scan is blocked, and a one-tap punch is flagged or blocked depending on your settings. Combined with the QR code, you get two independent signals that the right person was in the right place at the right time.
Privacy-First, Punch-Only Location
QRAY does not run background location tracking for the standard time clock. Position is captured only when someone clocks in or out, and only with the employee's device permission. Continuous tracking is a separate, optional module that your company turns on with employees' consent; it runs only during working hours, and location history is kept for 90 days. That makes it an easy sell to employees who do not want to be followed all day.
